Keeping your Evolis Avansia ID card printer in optimal condition requires regular maintenance, including changing the ribbon when needed. Follow these step-by-step instructions to properly replace the ribbon and ensure high-quality printing results.

Step-by-Step Guide to Changing the Ribbon

Open the Front Cover

  • Locate the front cover of your Evolis Avansia printer and open it to access the ribbon compartment.

Remove the Ink Ribbon Cassette

  • Carefully take out the ribbon cassette from the printer.

Load the New Ribbon into the Cassette

  • Insert the spool spindle into the feed side (purple) holder.

  • Unwind the ribbon and load it into the shaft as shown in the printer’s manual.

  • Insert the spool spindle into the winding side holder, ensuring to insert the bottom first.

Take Up the Ribbon Slack

  • Turn the adjustment wheel to take up any slack in the ribbon.

Reinsert the Ribbon Cassette

  • Place the ribbon cassette back into the printer until you hear a ‘click’ indicating it is properly secured.

Insert the Evolis Electronic Key

  • Place the Evolis electronic key into the key holder to recognize the new ribbon.

Close the Front Cover

  • Shut the front cover securely to complete the installation process.

Press the SET Key

  • When the message [Push SET Key] appears on the LCD screen, press the SET key to finalize the ribbon change.

Additional Tips

  • When placing the ink ribbon down, prevent contamination by keeping it positioned with the handle at the bottom.

  • If the ribbon is cut, carefully trim the edges with scissors and use cellophane tape to join the ribbon. Then, return to Step 4 to take up the slack.
